About Mayor Myers
Mark W. Myers was born and raised in Greenwood, Indiana. He is a devoted father to six children and proud husband to Stacie Myers. In addition to serving as Mayor of Greenwood, Myers is a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Mark Myers was first elected Mayor in 2011 and is currently serving in his second term. As Mayor, Myers has balanced Greenwood’s budget for seven consecutive years and maintained one of the lowest city tax rates in the state. Under his leadership, Greenwood has been recognized nationally for excellence in financial reporting five years in a row. Mayor Myers has helped usher in thousands of new jobs and private investment to Greenwood, led downtown revitalization efforts and made critical improvements to infrastructure, public safety and quality of life.
Prior to his election as Mayor, Myers served as a firefighter and EMT with the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department, as an officer and detective with the Greenwood Police Department for 14 years, and as the Johnson County Coroner. Mayor Myers is fluent in Spanish and served as a Missionary in Paraguay, South America from 1997-2002.
Growing up, Myers was involved in the community as a member of Boy Scouts of America and as an Explorer Scout with the Greenwood Fire Department. He also worked for several years at the family owned and operated Myers Ambulance Service, which served Greenwood and Johnson County for 29 years.
