ABOUT MARK MYERS

Mark Myers was born and raised in Greenwood, Indiana, and public service has been a constant commitment in his life.

As a child, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, an organization he remains active with, and an Explorer Scout with the Greenwood Fire Department. Myers also worked for his father, former Greenwood Mayor Larry Myers, at the family business, Myers Ambulance Service. As he moved into adulthood, Mark Myers continued to serve with the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department and was a 14-year member of the Greenwood Police Department, serving as a full-time police officer and detective. He is a former elected Johnson County Coroner and special deputy sheriff for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition to his mayoral duties, Myers serves on several boards and commissions that further elevate Greenwood’s influence in Indiana and across the nation. He is vice chair of the Johnson County Recycling District, serves on the boards of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and Indiana Statewide 911, and is the president of the Accelerate Indiana Municipalities, Indiana’s municipal growth and leadership organization.

Myers is a member of the National League of Cities and was recently appointed to serve on its Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee. He is also a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and has served as president of the Indiana Conference of Mayors. He was recently appointed to the board of directors of the Boy Scouts of America Crossroads of America Council.

A fluent Spanish speaker, Mark Myers served as a missionary with World Gospel Mission from 1997 to 2001 and director of security for the U.S.Embassy in Paraguay from 2001-2002. He is father to six children, husband to Stacie, and is serving his third term as Mayor of Greenwood.
