About Mayor Myers
Mayor Mark W. Myers was born and raised in Greenwood, Indiana. He is father to six children, husband to Stacie Myers, and is serving his third term in office. Additionally, Myers serves as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Public service has been constant commitment throughout Mayor Myers’ life. As a child, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and an Explorer Scout with the Greenwood Fire Department. Mayor Myers also worked for his father, former Greenwood mayor Larry Myers, at the family business Myers Ambulance Service. As he moved into adulthood, Mayor Myers continued to serve with the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department and was a 14-year member of the Greenwood Police Department, serving as a full-time police officer and detective. In 1992, he was elected Johnson County Coroner.
In addition to his mayoral duties, Myers serves on several boards and commissions that further elevate Greenwood’s influence across Indiana and the nation. He is vice chair of the Johnson County Recycling District, serves on the board of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Indiana Statewide 911 and is the incoming president of the Association of Indiana Municipalities, Indiana’s municipal growth and leadership organization.
Mayor Myers is a member of the National League of Cities and was recently appointed to serve on its Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee. He is also a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, has served as president for the Indiana Conference of Mayors. He was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America, Crossroads of America council.
A fluent Spanish speaker, Mayor Myers served as a missionary with World Gospel Mission from 1997 to 2001 and director of security for the U.S. Embassy in Paraguay from 2001-2002.
